Cycling Events during the Cadel Evans Great Ocean Road Race:

Planned Closures

Due to the Cadel Evans Great Ocean Road Race in Geelong, the Bellarine and Surf Coast, bus Routes 1, 20, 30, 31, 24, 41, 42, 43, 50, 52, 53, 54, 51, 55, 56, 60, 61 and 101 (Apollo Bay - Geelong) will experience delays, be diverted in both directions and selected bus stops will not be serviced on Wednesday 28 January, Thursday 29 January, Saturday 31 January and Sunday 1 February.

Additionally, on Saturday 31 January, the Warrnambool Line will be suspended between Waurn Ponds and Warrnambool, affecting the 1:10pm Southern Cross to Warrnambool and 5:36pm Warrnambool to Melbourne services. Replacement Coaches will be available from Geelong Station. 

Wednesday 28 and Thursday 29 January

Passengers can catch regular services arriving at Geelong and Marshal Railway Station and connect with bus services to Torquay.

Leaving Geelong

Passengers can return via bus services from Torquay and catch regular services departing Geelong and Marshal Railway Station.

Stop changes from 1pm to 3:30pm

Due to road closures in Torquay for the Surf Coast Classic on Anderson Street and The Esplanade, services on Routes 52, 53 and 54 will divert and not service Bell Street and sections of The Esplanade from 1pm service to 3:30pm.

Stop changes from first to last service

Due to road closures in Lorne for the Surf Coast Classic on Mountjoy Parade, Geelong to Apollo Bay coach services will be required to divert. Services will terminate and originate from the Lorne Visitors Centre from first service to last service.

Passengers can catch regular services arriving at Geelong Railway Station between Waurn Ponds and Melbourne (Southern Cross).

Due to the suspension of services on the Warrnambool Line between Waurn Ponds and Warrnambool, the following services will be affected and Replacement Coaches will be available for passengers between Warrnambool and Geelong Station.

Leaving Geelong

Passengers can catch regular services departing Geelong Railway Station between Waurn Ponds and Melbourne (Southern Cross).

Regional Bus

Due to temporary and rolling road closures in place for the People’s Ride and UCI Women’s Elite Road Race, there will be delays and service changes to bus Routes 1, 20, 22, 24, 25, 30, 31, 41, 42, 51, 52, 53, 54, 55, 56, 60, 61 and 101 (Apollo Bay - Geelong) around Geelong, the Bellarine and Surf Coast.

Stop changes from 12pm to 4:45pm

Due to closures on Moorabool Street, services on route 1 will need to divert and will not service sections of Moorabool Street and High Street between 12pm and 4:45pm. 

The following inbound stops will not be serviced between 12pm and 4:45pm:

A temporary bus stop will be located at 8 Mt Pleasant Road for passengers travelling inbound.

The following outbound bound stops will not be serviced between 12pm and 4:45pm:

Due to closures on Moorabool Street, services on route 24 will need to divert and will not service sections of Moorabool Street and High Street between 12:15pm and 4:45pm.

Due to closures on Aberdeen Street, Minerva Road and Church Street, services on route 24 will need to divert and not service sections of Aberdeen Street, Minerva Road and Church Street between 2:45pm and 4:45pm.
