Horse Racing returns to Melbourne at the Flemington Racecourse! Public transport is your best way to enjoy it, with extra services to help you get to and from the Flemington Racecourse on Sunday 21 September 2025.

• Gates Open: 1pm

• First Race: 1:25pm

• Last Race: 5:25pm

Metropolitan train

Getting to Flemington Racecourse

Trains will operate from Southern Cross (Platform 8) stopping at North Melbourne (Platform 2), en-route to Flemington Racecourse (Platform 1).

• From 12:45pm, services will depart every 30 minutes.

During the above period, services will return to Southern Cross with passengers, via North Melbourne.

The last departure from Southern Cross will be at 2:45pm.

Leaving from Flemington Racecourse

Trains will operate from Flemington Racecourse (Platform 1), via North Melbourne (Platform 1) enroute to Southern Cross (Platform 8).

Trains will depart Flemington Racecourse approximately as follows:

• 20 minutes after Race 7: 4:45pm
• 20 minutes after Race 8: 5:15pm
• 20 minutes after Last Race: 5:45pm
• Then depart at:  6:05pm, 6:25pm

During the above period, services will return to Flemington Racecourse with passengers, via North Melbourne.

The final service from Flemington Racecourse will depart at 6:25pm.

Getting to and from Melbourne Showgrounds 

Route 57

• Trams will operate via Route 57a from Stop 01 Flinders Street / Elizabeth Street and Stop 32 Sandown Road/ Epsom Road via Flemington Road.

Getting to and from Flemington Racecourse. 

The following bus route travels close to Flemington Racecourse: 

• Route 472 (Williamstown to Moonee Ponds via Footscray)

Passengers can catch buses from Footscray Station and alight at Langs Road/Showgrounds.

Getting to Flemington Racecourse

Passengers arriving at North Melbourne and Southern Cross stations are advised to change trains and catch a Flemington Racecourse service.
