Horse Racing returns to Melbourne at the Flemington Racecourse! Public transport is your best way to enjoy it, with extra services to help you get to and from the Flemington Racecourse on Saturday 13 September 2025.

Please note that there will be bus replacements running between:

• North Melbourne and Craigieburn, all day

• Macleod and Eltham, all day

• Caulfield and Mordialloc, all day

Metropolitan train

No train services will be operating to Flemington Racecourse, due to the Craigieburn disruptions. A shuttle bus service will operate between Footscray and Flemington Racecourse in lieu of additional train services.

Getting to Flemington Racecourse

Passengers are advised to alight on a Werribee or Sunbury train service to Footscray, then transfer to a shuttle bus to Flemington Racecourse.

Shuttle buses will depart Footscray:

• From 10:30am, services will depart every 7 minutes.

The last departure from Footscray will be at 2:27pm.

Leaving from Flemington Racecourse

Passengers are advised to alight on a shuttle bus service to Footscray, then transfer to a Werribee or Sunbury train service to continue their journey.

Shuttle buses will depart Flemington Racecourse:

• From 4pm, services will depart every 7 minutes.

The last departure from Flemington Racecourse will be at 7:09pm.

Getting to and from Melbourne Showgrounds 

Route 57

• Trams will operate via Route 57a from Stop 01 Flinders Street / Elizabeth Street and Stop 32 Sandown Road/ Epsom Road via Flemington Road.

The following bus route travels close to Flemington Racecourse: 

• Route 472 (Williamstown to Moonee Ponds via Footscray)

Passengers can catch buses from Footscray Station and alight at Langs Road/Showgrounds.

Getting to Flemington Racecourse

Passengers arriving at North Melbourne and Southern Cross stations are advised to change trains and catch a Werribee or Sunbury train service to Footscray, then change to a shuttle bus service to continue their journey.
