Public transport for the Boxing Day Test Australia v India: Thursday 26 to Sunday 29 December 2024

The Boxing Day Test is one of the biggest days on Melbourne’s sporting calendar. This year’s series is between Australia and India, and the best way for you to enjoy this is to take public transport.  

Extra services will help you get to and from the MCG from Thursday 26 December to Sunday 29 December.

Getting to and from the MCG

Passengers arriving at Southern Cross Station can get to the MCG in the following ways:

• Change to a metropolitan train and alight at Flinders Street, Jolimont or Richmond stations and walk
• Change to a metropolitan train, alight at Flinders Street Station and change to a route 70, 70a, or 75 tram and alight at Stop 7C MCG/Hisense Arena
• Change to a Route 48 tram and alight at Stop 11 along Wellington Parade

Geelong Line

• Additional train departs Wyndham Vale at 8.33am. This train will stop at Tarneit, Deer Park, arriving at Southern Cross at 9.06am.

Ballarat Line

• Additional train departs Wendouree at 7.39am. This train will stop at Ballarat, Ballan, Bacchus Marsh, Melton, Cobblebank, Rockbank, Caroline Springs, Deer Park, Ardeer, arriving at Southern Cross at 9.10am.

Bendigo Line

• Additional train departs Kyneton at 7.57am. This train will stop at Woodend, Macedon, Gisborne, Riddells Creek, Clarkefield, arriving at Southern Cross at 9.12am.

After the match - Thursday 26 December

Geelong Line

• Additional train departs Southern Cross at 6:40pm. This train will stop at Deer Park, Tarneit, arriving at Wyndham Vale at 7:11pm.

Ballarat Line

• Additional train departs Southern Cross at 6:35pm. This train will stop at Ardeer, Deer Park, Caroline Springs, Rockbank, Cobblebank, Melton, Bacchus Marsh, Ballan, Ballarat, arriving at Wendouree at 8:17pm.

Bendigo Line

• Additional train departs Southern Cross at 6:55pm. This train will stop at Clarkefield, Riddells Creek, Gisborne, Macedon, Woodend, arriving at Kyneton at 8:16pm.
