Public transport for EQUITANA Melbourne: Thursday 14 to Sunday 17 November 2024
EQUITANA Melbourne returns to the Melbourne Showgrounds in 2024! Public transport is your best way to enjoy it, with extra services to help you get to and from the Melbourne Showgrounds from Thursday 14 to Sunday 17 November.
EQUITANA Melbourne patrons who have purchased a general admission ticket are entitled to free public transport in zones 1 & 2 across metropolitan trains, trams and buses, for the nominated event ticket date.
Simply show your either your digital or printed event ticket, which includes the verified public transport entitlement, to accredited staff at the barriers when making your way to and from the event. Remember, don’t touch on your Myki card and giddy on up to Melbourne Showgrounds via public transport for free!
The event will run:
- Thursday 14 November: 9am to 9.30pm
- Friday 15 November: 9am to 9.30pm
- Saturday 16 November: 9am to 9.30pm
- Sunday 17 November: 9am to 6pm

Metropolitan train
Thursday 14 and Friday 15 November
Getting to and from Melbourne Showgrounds
Special Trains will depart from Flinders Street (Platforms 8/9), stopping at Southern Cross (Platform 14) and North Melbourne (Platform 6), then run express to the Showgrounds.
Trains will depart Flinders Street approximately as follows:
- From 8.56am until 9.55am, every 30 minutes.
- From 9.55am until 2.08pm, every 40 minutes.
From 8.56am to 2.08pm, services returning to Flinders Street from the Melbourne Showgrounds will run express back to Flinders Street with passengers.
Between 2pm and 6.51pm, trains will not run to and from the Melbourne Showgrounds. Passengers are encouraged to board normal trains via the Craigieburn Line and alight at Newmarket Station, to board Tram 57 services to the Melbourne Showgrounds.
From 6.51pm to 7.50pm, trains will depart Flinders Street every 30 minutes.
From 6.55pm to 7.50pm, trains returning to Flinders Street from the Melbourne Showgrounds will stop at North Melbourne (Platform 5) and Southern Cross (Platform 13) en route to Flinders Street.
Leaving the Melbourne Showgrounds
From 9pm until 10pm, trains returning to Flinders Street will depart every 20 minutes.
Between 9pm and 10pm, trains will stop at North Melbourne (Platform 5) and Southern Cross (Platform 13) en route to Flinders Street.
The last train from the Showgrounds will depart at approximately 10pm.
Saturday 16 November
Getting to the Melbourne Showgrounds
Special trains are to depart from Flinders Street (Platform 10), stopping at Southern Cross (Platform 14) and North Melbourne (Platform 6), then express to the Showgrounds.
Trains are to depart Flinders Street approximately as follows:
- From 8.39am until 9.20am, every 20 minutes.
- From 09.20am until 8.35pm, every 45 minutes.
Between 8.39am and 1:20pm, trains returning to Flinders Street will operate express back to Flinders Street with passengers.
After 1.20pm, trains will stop at North Melbourne (Platform 5), and Southern Cross (Platform 13), en route to Flinders Street.
Leaving the Melbourne Showgrounds
From 9pm until 10pm, trains returning to Flinders Street will depart every 20 minutes.
Between 9pm and 10pm, trains will stop at North Melbourne (Platform 5) and Southern Cross (Platform 13) en route to Flinders Street.
The last train from the Showgrounds will depart at approximately 10pm.
Sunday 17 November
Getting to the Melbourne Showgrounds
Trains are to depart from Flinders Street (Platform 10), stopping at Southern Cross (Platform 14) and North Melbourne (Platform 6), then express to the Showgrounds.
Trains are to depart Flinders Street approximately as follows:
- From 8.39am until 9.20am, every 20 minutes.
- From 9:20am until 5.35pm, every 45 minutes.
Between 8.39am and 1:20pm, trains will operate express back to Flinders Street with passengers.
After 1:20pm, trains will stop at North Melbourne (Platform 5), and Southern Cross (Platform 13), en route to Flinders Street.
Leaving the Melbourne Showgrounds
From 6pm until 7pm, trains returning to Flinders Street will depart every 20 minutes.
Between 6pm and 7pm, trains will stop at North Melbourne (Platform 5) and Southern Cross (Platform 13) en route to Flinders Street.
The last train from the Showgrounds will depart at approximately 7pm.

- Stop 1: Flinders Street Railway Station/ Elizabeth Street and
- Stop 32: Sandown Road/ Epsom Road via Flemington Road

- Route 472 (Williamstown to Moonee Ponds via Footscray)

Passengers arriving at North Melbourne and Southern Cross stations are advised to change trains and catch a Melbourne Showgrounds service.
