There will be changes to public transport services on Friday 27 September during the AFL Grand Final long weekend. Plan ahead by using Journey planner or by downloading the free PTV app.

Ticketing

On public holidays, your daily myki fare is capped at $7.20 ($3.60 for concessions and seniors), allowing unlimited travel all day.

Note: While some concession holders enjoy free travel on weekends, this benefit does not apply to public holiday timetables. On public holidays, normal myki fare caps are in effect for all passengers, including seniors.

Metropolitan train services will run to a Saturday timetable with additional services.

Tram services will run to a Saturday timetable, noting times may differ slightly from the normal Saturday timetable.

Night network services will run as normal.

Friday 27 September, 8.30am to 1.30pm:

From Wednesday 25 September to the AFL Grand Final, Saturday 28 September (inclusive). The Free Tram Zone will be extended to the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG). Customers travelling solely within the free tram zone should not touch on or off. The additional stops included in the Extended Free Tram Zone are as follows:

V/Line trains will run to a Saturday timetable for the Grand Final Eve public holiday on Friday 27 September.

The Overland (Melbourne – Adelaide via Ararat and Horsham)

The Overland train from Melbourne to Adelaide will run to a Friday timetable.

Schedule Coach Services 

Scheduled coach services will run to a Saturday timetable with the following alterations:

Canberra - Bairnsdale

Bendigo - Wangaratta

Melbourne – Mildura - Melbourne

Metropolitan buses will run to a Saturday timetable, with the following exceptions.
