Run Melbourne will return to the Grand Slam Oval, Melbourne Olympic Park on Sunday 21 July, commencing at Batman Avenue.  

Participants can take part in the following running events:

Public transport is the best way to get to the event as parking will be restricted and road closures for the marathon will be in force from 3am until 1:30pm Sunday 21 July.

There are also road closures on La Trobe Street between Harbour Esplanade and Queen Street due to tram stop upgrade works. Learn more about La Trobe Street tram stop upgrades.

Before you travel

Passengers, please note there will be disruptions on the MTM network for the Frankston and Mernda lines due to scheduled maintenance works.

There will be disruptions on the Yarra Trams network due to the Run Melbourne road closures for routes 11, 12, 48, 109, 70, 75, 30, 35, 86, 96, 58, 1, 3/3a, 5, 6, 16, 64, 67 and 72, with diversions and stop closures in place. Bus replacements will run for passengers on nominated tram routes.

There will also be disruptions on the metropolitan bus network for routes 234 and 235 diverting from first service to 9:30am (both directions) and route 605 diverting from 8am to 1pm.

Regular train services will operate to Flinders Street Station. Passengers are advised to disembark at Flinders Street Station or Richmond Station and make their way on foot towards the start line on Batman Avenue.

Due to road closures for Run Melbourne, there will be service changes on the Metropolitan Tram Network and the following Routes will be affected:

Getting to Docklands

Regular services will arrive and depart from Southern Cross Station. Passengers are advised to transfer at Southern Cross and board services towards Flinders Street Station or Richmond Station, alight and make their way on foot towards the start line on Batman Avenue.

Bus icon Metropolitan bus

Due to road closures for Run Melbourne, there will be service changes on the Metropolitan bus network and the following Routes will be affected:

Route 234 – Garden City – City (Queen Victoria Market) & Route 235 – City (Southern Cross Station) – Fishermans Bend via Williamstown Rd

From first service to 9.30am, services will divert via Ingles Street, Dorcas Street, Sturt Street, Kings way / King Street, Collins Street, Queen Street and terminate at Bourke Street.

Services to the City will terminate at the bus stop on Queen Street before Bourke Street Stop ID20462 and not service sections of City Road, Queensbridge Street, Flinders Street and Queen Street.

From first service to 9:30am, services to Garden City and Fishermans Bend will commence at the bus stop on Queen Street before Bourke Street Stop ID20462 and not service sections of Queen Street, Flinders Street, Queensbridge Street and City Road.

The following bus stops will not be serviced during this time for route 234 & 235 (both directions):

 Route 605 – Gardenvale – City (Queen Street)

From 8am to 1pm, services will divert via Punt Road, Hoddle Street, Albert Street and Lonsdale Street to Queen Street in both directions and not service sections of the Botanical Gardens, City Road, Queensbridge Street and Queen Street.
