Public transport for Run For The Kids: Sunday 17 March 2024

Extra Public Transport will be running early to assist you to get to the start of the race course to attend the Herald Sun/Transurban Run for the Kids.

The Long course zone’s will begin from 8am to 8:40am.

The Short course zone’s will begin from 9:30am to 9:50am

Before you travel

Passengers, please note there will be disruptions on the MTM network for Sandringham, Belgrave, Lilydale, Pakenham, Mernda Lines, with bus replacements running for passengers.

There will be disruptions on the VLine network for Seymour and Shepparton Lines, with bus replacements running for passengers.

There will also be disruptions on the Yarra Trams network for Routes 6 and 16, with bus replacements running for passengers.

Metropolitan bus

Due to road closures for Run for the Kids, there will be bus service changes.

The following Routes will be affected:

Route 216 Sunshine Station - City (Queen St)

Services will divert via Dudley and Williams Streets to terminate and commence from the Queen Victoria Market in A’Beckett Street, and not service sections of Spenser, Lonsdale and Queen Streets, from first service to 2:30pm.

Route 220 Sunshine Station - City via Footscray Road

Services will divert via Dynon Road, Spenser Street, Dudley and Williams Streets in both directions to terminate and commence from the Queen Victoria Market in A’Beckett Street, and not service sections of Footscray Road and Queen Street, from first service to 2:30pm.

Route 232 – Altona North – City (Queen Victoria Market)

Services will divert via Todd Road and Wharf Road in both directions to terminate and commence from Fishermans Bend and not service sections of Collins Street and Queen Street, from first service to 2:30pm.

The following bus stops will not be serviced during this time:

Route 234 – Garden City – City (Queen Victoria Market)

Services to the City will terminate at Clarendon Street and City Road Stop ID352 and not service sections of Queensbridge Street, Flinders Street and Queen Street, from first service to 2:30pm.

Services to Garden City will commence from Ferras Street and City Road Stop ID651 and not service sections of Queen Street, Flinders Street, Queensbridge Street and City Road, from first service to 2:30pm.

Route 235 – City (Southern Cross Station) – Fishermans Bend via Williamstown Road

Services to the City will terminate at Derham Street and Normanby Road Stop ID4908 and not service sections of Normanby Road and Southern Cross Station, from first service to 2:30pm.

Services to Fishermans Bend will commence from Port Melbourne Cricket Ground Stop ID6514 on Williamstown Road and not service Southern Cross Station and sections of Normanby Road, from first service to 2:30pm.

The following bus stops will not be serviced during this time:

The following bus stops for routes 216, 220, 232, 234 and 235 will not be serviced during this time:

Route 605 – Gardenvale – City (Queen Street)

Services will divert via Punt Road, Albert Street and Lonsdale Street to Queen Street in both directions and not service sections of the Botanical Gardens, City Road, Queensbridge Street and Queen Street, from 8am to 12pm.
