Public transport for the Australia Day public holiday: Friday 26 January 2024

This year the Australia Day public holiday falls on Friday 26 January 2024.

Most public transport services will operate to a Saturday timetable, but some services may be altered or will not run.

Metropolitan train

Services will run to a Saturday timetable.

Night Network services will not run on Friday morning.

Please note:

Route 12 trams run a shortened service between St Kilda and Stop 122 Southern Cross Station. Route 12 passengers consider Route 109 trams along Collins Street and Victoria Parade between Stop 1 Southern Cross Station and Victoria Gardens.
Free Australian Open shuttle trams run as Route 70a between:
- Stope D6 Flinders Street West and Stop 7C John Cain Arena, until one hour after the end of play each night.
- Melbourne Park and Stop 39 Camberwell Tram Depot after end of play each night.

Canberra – Bairnsdale

Coach service from Canberra to Bairnsdale will operate as school holidays Sunday timetable.

The Bairnsdale to Canberra service will not run.

Geelong/Apollo Bay

Melbourne – Mildura

The 9:10pm Melbourne to Mildura service will operate to a normal Friday timetable.
The 10:05pm Mildura to Melbourne service will operate to a normal Friday timetable

Wangaratta - Mount Beauty

The 4:45pm Melbourne to Mount Beauty service will operate to a Friday timetable with taxis from Bright to Mount Beauty.
The 10:55am Mount Beauty to Melbourne service will operate to a Friday timetable with taxis from Mount Beauty to Bright.

Melbourne – Mallacoota

The 7:54am Melbourne to Mallacoota service will operate to a school holidays Sunday timetable.
The 11:55am Mallacoota to Melbourne service will operate to a school holidays Sunday timetable.

Narooma – Mallacoota

The 9:50am Narooma to Mallacoota service will operate to a school holidays Sunday timetable.
The 2:35pm Mallacoota to Narooma service will operate to a school holidays Sunday timetable.
