Getting to and from Albert Park: Thursday 30 March and Friday 31 March
Schools Program attendees who have their tickets may enter at any gate.
Metropolitan train
No additional trains run. All trains operate to their normal daily timetable.
Passengers can get to and from the track using the following options:
Gates 1 and 2
- Train to Southern Cross Station, then connect with S1 shuttle trams on Spencer Street
Gate 3
- Train to Southern Cross Station, then connect with S2 shuttle trams on Spencer Street
Gates 5, 8, 9 and 10
- Train to Flinders Street Station, then connect with St Kilda Road trams (except Route 1)
Your Grand Prix ticket cannot be used to travel free on trains, but on trams only.

Metropolitan Tram
Passengers travelling to the track can use their Grand Prix ticket to travel free on shuttle trams—you don’t need to use your myki!
Gates 1 and 2, 5:30am to 8pm (Thurs) & 10pm (Fri)
- S1 shuttle trams run between Stop 122 Southern Cross Station and Middle Park.
Gates 3, 5:30am to 8:00pm
- S2 shuttle trams run between Stop 122 Southern Cross Station and Gate 3, running express between Southern Cross Station and Gate 3 on Albert Rd.
- Express buses run from Crown Casino to Gates 1, 2 and 3 via Clarendon Street and Canterbury Road.
Gates 5, 8, 9 & 10
- Swanston Street/St Kilda Road trams run normally on Thursday and Friday. Catch any tram except Route 1 to get to your gate.
Tram Service Changes
Please note that the following trams services will be impacted to accommodate Grand Prix:
First to last tram
- Route 11 trams run a shortened service between Docklands and Stop 12 St Vincents Plaza. Buses replace trams between Stop 12 St Vincents Plaza and West Preston.
- Route 30 trams will not run. La Trobe Street passengers can connect to diverting Route 12 trams to continue.
- Route 35 (City Circle) will not run (Wednesday to Sunday)
- Buses replace Route 82 trams along full route.
From first tram to 10pm each day
- Route 96 trams run a shortened service between East Brunswick and Stop 1 Southern Cross Station.
- Buses replace Route 96 trams between a temporary stop near Stop 3 William Street and Bourke Street and Stop 138 Luna Park, diverting via King and Collins streets.
- Stop 139 Acland Street will not be serviced by trams or replacement buses.
- Passengers can also connect with Route 96 replacement buses from Stop 122 Southern
Cross Station on Collins Street to Luna Park. - Additional Route 96 bus replacements will run from Stop 122 Southern Cross Station, at Collins Street to Stop 134 Park Street during peak hours.
From 11pm Friday 31 March to 8am Saturday 1 April
- Route 67 trams run a shortened service between Carnegie and Stop 30 St Kilda Junction.
During the disruption, find your replacement bus using Busminder.

Passengers arriving at Southern Cross Station can catch a S1 shuttle tram on Spencer Street tram from Stop 122 Southern Cross Station/Spencer Street.
Gate 3
Passengers arriving at Southern Cross Station can catch a S2 shuttle tram on Spencer Street tram from Stop 122 Southern Cross Station/Spencer Street.
Gates 5, 8, 9 and 10
Passengers arriving at Southern Cross Station, can change to a Flinders Street Station train and then catch a St Kilda Road tram, except Route 1 from Stop 13 Federation Square/Swanston Street.

- Train to Southern Cross Station, then connect with S1 shuttle trams on Spencer Street
Gates 3
- Train to Southern Cross Station, then connect with S2 shuttle trams on Spencer Street
Gates 5, 8, 9 and 10
- Train to Flinders Street Station, then connect with one of the following trams:
- S3 shuttle trams (between Flinders Street Station and Luna Park via Fitzroy Street)
- S4 shuttle trams (between Melbourne Central Station and Windsor Station/Chapel Street).

Metropolitan tram
Passengers travelling to the track can use their Grand Prix ticket to travel free on shuttle trams.
Gates 1 and 2 - 5.30am to 10pm
- S1 shuttle trams run between Stop 122 Southern Cross Station and Middle Park, running express between Southern Cross Station and Gate 1 and 2.
Gate 3 - 5.30am to 8pm
- S2 shuttle trams run between Stop 122 Southern Cross Station and Gates 3 running express between Southern Cross Station and Gate 3 on Albert Rd.
- Normal Route 12 trams stopping all stops along Clarendon Street (except Stop 124a Batman Park, Stop 124 Crown Casino and Stop 125 Clarendon Street Junction)
- Express buses run from Crown Casino to Gates 1, 2 and 3 via Clarendon Street and Canterbury Road.
Gates 5, 8, 9 & 10 - 5.30am to 10pm
- S3 shuttle trams run between Flinders Street Station andStop 138 Luna Park via Fitzroy Street
- S4 shuttle trams run between Melbourne Central Station and Stop 32 Chapel St / Windsor Station.

From first to last tram each day

- Route 5 trams run between Malvern and Stop 38 Orrong Road, connecting with Route 64 trams traveling to St Kilda Junction.
- Route 58 trams run shortened service between Stop 116 City Rd and West Coburg. Buses replace trams between Stop 115 Casino and Toorak.
From first tram to 10pm each day
Use Grand Prix shuttle trams along St Kilda Road to connect between services.
- Route 1 trams run in two sections, with no trams between Stop 7 RMIT University and Stop 17 Sturt Street.
- Route 3a and 16 trams run shortened service between East Malvern/Kew and Stop 138 Luna Park.
- Route 6 trams run in sections with no trams between Stop 7 RMIT University and a temporary stop in High Street and St Kilda Road.
- Route 12 trams run a shortened service between St Kilda and Stop 12 St Vincent’s Plaza, travelling express between Stop 1 Southern Cross Station and City Road. Passengers can use Route 109 trams as alternative to Victoria Gardens.
- Route 64a trams run a shortened service between East Brighton and Stop 30 St Kilda Junction.
- Route 72a trams run a shortened service between Camberwell and a temporary stop in Commercial Road at St Kilda Road.
From 5am to 10pm each day
- Route 86 trams run a shortened service between Bundoora RMIT and Stop 1 Southern Cross Station/Bourke Street.
- Route 96 trams run a shortened service between East Brunswick and Stop 1 Southern Cross Station/Bourke Street. Buses replace Route 96 trams between Stop 3 William Street and Stop 138 Luna Park. Stop 139 Acland Street will not be serviced by trams or replacement buses.
- Route 109 trams run express between Stop 1 Southern Cross Station and Stop 125A Southbank Tram Depot.
From 11pm Friday 31 March to 8am Saturday 1 April and from 8pm Saturday 1 April to 8am Sunday 2 April
- Route 67 trams run a shortened service between Carnegie and Stop 30 St Kilda Junction.

Passengers arriving at Southern Cross Station, can change to a Flinders Street Station train and then catch an S3 (St Kilda Road) GP shuttle tram from Stop 13 Federation Square/Swanston Street.

Ticketing
2023 Grand Prix ticket holders are able to travel free on Grand Prix shuttle trams in Melbourne. You must show your Grand Prix ticket if requested by public transport staff.
Please note, you cannot travel on trains, buses or coaches using your Grand Prix ticket. You must have a valid myki card or ticket to travel.

- Hurstbridge Line: Buses replace trains (Monday 20 March to Friday 31 March)

Accessible transport services
Patrons may catch a train to Southern Cross or Flinders Street stations and catch free accessible shuttle trams, replacement bus services or extra buses to the Grand Prix.
Gates 1 and 2
Catch an accessible Route 96 tram from Southern Cross Station. You can also take a Route 96a bus from Williams Street, Melbourne or Whiteman Street at Crown Casino.
Catch an express 12a low-floor bus from Whiteman Street at Crown Casino.
Gates 3
Catch a Route 12a shuttle tram from Southern Cross Station or an express low-floor bus from Whiteman Street at Crown Casino
Gates 5, 8, 9 and 10
Catch a train to Flinders Street Station and board a low-floor shuttle tram (Routes 3a, 5a, 16a or 64a).
Please note only some trams will be low-floor, but accessible trams will be operating at high frequency.
