Public transport for the Australian International Airshow: Friday 3 March to Sunday 5 March 2023

The Australian International Airshow is on again from 3 March until 5 March 2023 at Avalon Airport. We're running extra services on the Geelong line, and shuttle bus services between Lara and the Airshow at Avalon Airport, so you can leave the car at home.

You'll save at least 25% if you buy your V/Line Airshow public transport ticket online.

The ticket includes:

• Return train travel to Lara Station from any station on the Geelong line, plus
• Shuttle bus between Lara Station and the Airshow

Entry to the Airshow is not included with the ticket.

From other locations in Victoria

Customers travelling with V/Line from other locations in regional Victoria will pay the normal fare to Lara, plus the cost of the shuttle bus fare between Lara Station and the Airshow.

The shuttle bus will be $10 full fare / $5 concession on the day.

Getting to and from Avalon Airport

Customers can purchase a V/Line Airshow Express public transport ticket and travel from anywhere within Zone 1+2, direct to the event - you don't need to use your myki.

Catch a train to Southern Cross Station, then change to a Geelong line service to Lara Station.

From Lara Station you can purchase a ticket or use your V/Line Airshow Express ticket to catch the shuttle bus between Lara Station and the Airshow.

Getting to and from Avalon Airport

Customers can catch a Geelong line train to Lara Station.

V/Line Airshow Express Shuttle Bus

The shuttle bus will be a turn up and go service and will run during the Airshow hours.

Trade days for accredited trade visitors and aviation industry professionals:

• Tuesday 28 February – Thursday 2 March 9am to 5pm
• Friday 3 March 9am to 2pm.

Public days:

Friday 3 March

• Gates open to the public from 2pm
• Public Flying displays from 2pm – 9:30pm (approx.)
• Friday Night Alight spectacular
• Ground exhibits from 2pm
• Exhibition Pavilion open to the public from 2pm – 5pm

Saturday 4 March & Sunday 5 March

• Gates open to the public from 8am to 6pm daily
• Flying displays from 10am to 4:30 pm (approx.) daily
• Ground displays 8am to 6pm daily
• Exhibition Pavilion open to the public from 9am – 5pm

Additional V/Line services will be available on all services running to and from Southern Cross and Geelong, South Geelong, Marshall and Waurn Ponds to Lara Station for Avalon Airshow.

Getting to and from Avalon Airport

Customers can catch the following services close to Lara Station:

• Route 10 (Lara Station to Lara South via Forest Rd)
• Route 11 (Lara Station to Lara East)
• Route 12 (Lara Station to Lara West)

Please note that due to the Avalon Airshow bus shuttle operations at Lara Station, services on Routes 10, 11 and Route 12 will not travel via Lara Station on Friday 3, Saturday 4 and Sunday 5 March.

Customers are advised to walk approximately 100 metres to the temporary bus stop located on McClelland Avenue, outside the APCO Service Station, to board and alight services.

From Lara Station you can purchase a ticket or use your V/Line Airshow Express ticket to catch the shuttle bus from Lara Station to the Airshow.
