Public transport for the Formula 1 Heineken Australian Grand Prix 2022: Thursday 7 April to Sunday 10 April 2022

Getting to and from Albert Park: Thursday 7 April and Friday 8 April

Schools Program attendees who have their tickets may enter at any gate.

Passengers can get to and from the track using the following options:

Passengers arriving at Southern Cross Station can catch a S1 shuttle tram on Spencer Street tram from Stop 122 Southern Cross Station/Spencer Street.

Gates 3 and 4

Passengers arriving at Southern Cross Station can catch a S2 shuttle tram on Spencer Street tram from Stop 122 Southern Cross Station/Spencer Street.

Gates 5, 8, 9 and 10

Passengers arriving at Southern Cross Station, can change to a Flinders Street Station train and then catch a St Kilda Road tram (except Route 1) from Stop 13 Federation Square/Swanston Street.

Tram Service Changes

Please note that the following trams services will be impacted to accommodate Grand Prix:

Buses replace Route 96 trams between East Brunswick and Stop 138 Luna Park, diverting via Lonsdale Street.

Stops not serviced

Bourke Street passengers can connect with Route 96 replacement buses at Stop 11 Melbourne Museum or Spencer Street using Route 86 trams along Bourke Street. 

From first to last tram each day

From 5.30am to 8.30pm each day

Use Grand Prix shuttle trams along St Kilda Road to connect between services.

From 7am to 8.30pm each day

Gates 5, 8, 9 and 10

Passengers arriving at Southern Cross Station, can change to a Flinders Street Station train and then catch a St Kilda Road GP shuttle tram from Stop 13 Federation Square/Swanston Street.

Ticketing

2022 Grand Prix ticket holders are able to travel free on Grand Prix shuttle trams in Melbourne. You must show your Grand Prix ticket if requested by public transport staff.

Please note, you cannot travel on trains, buses or coaches using your Grand Prix ticket. You must have a valid myki card or ticket to travel.

myki is your reusable travel card for trains, trams and buses in Melbourne and regional Victorian centres.

Top up before your journey. touch on and touch off at a myki reader as you travel.

Before you travel

We strongly encourage you register your myki. With a registered myki you can set up auto top up, protect your myki balance if the card is lost or stolen, check your travel history and manage multiple myki cards in the one account.

When travelling on public transport you must wear a fitted face mask covering your nose and mouth unless you have a lawful reason for not doing so, and ensure you wear it for your entire journey. This applies to anyone eight years old and over.

A mask is also highly recommended at tram and bus stops and on train station platforms where a safe distance (1.5m) from others cannot be maintained.
