Getting to and from Albert Park: Thursday 7 April and Friday 8 April
Schools Program attendees who have their tickets may enter at any gate.
Metropolitan train
No additional trains run. All trains operate to their normal daily timetable.
Passengers can get to and from the track using the following options:
Gates 1 and 2
- Train to Southern Cross Station, then connect with S1 shuttle trams on Spencer Street
Gates 3 and 4
- Train to Southern Cross Station, then connect with S2 shuttle trams on Spencer Street
Gates 5, 8, 9 and 10
- Train to Flinders Street Station, then connect with St Kilda Road trams (except Route 1)
Your Grand Prix ticket cannot be used to travel free on trains, but on trams only.

Metropolitan Tram
Passengers travelling to the track can use their Grand Prix ticket to travel free on shuttle trams – you don’t need to use your myki!
Gates 1 and 2
- S1 shuttle trams run between Stop 122 Southern Cross Station and Middle Park.
- Route 96 replacement buses service all stops between Southern Cross Station and Luna Park.
Gates 3 and 4, 9am to 11.30am and 5pm to 7pm
- S2 shuttle trams run between Stop 122 Southern Cross Station and Gate 3 and 4, supplementing Route 12 trams.
Gates 5, 8, 9 & 10
- Swanston Street/St Kilda Road trams run normally on Thursday and Friday. Catch any tram except Route 1 to get to your gate.
Tram Service Changes
Please note that the following trams services will be impacted to accommodate Grand Prix:
First to last tram
- Route 12 trams run shortened service between St Kilda and Stop 12 St Vincent’s Plaza, diverting via La Trobe Street between Stop 124 Batman Park and St Vincent’s Plaza.
- Route 30 trams will not run. La Trobe Street passengers can connect to diverting Route 12 trams to continue.
- Route 35 (City Circle) trams won’t service Stop 119 Spencer Street and Stop D1 Stadium Precinct
From first tram to 8.30pm each day
- Route 96 trams run a shortened service between East Brunswick and Stop 1 Southern Cross Station.
- Buses replace Route 96 trams between Stop 3 William Street and Stop 138 Luna Park, diverting via King and Collins streets.
- Stop 139 Acland Street will not be serviced by trams or replacement buses.

Passengers are advised that their Grand Prix ticket cannot be used to travel on buses, but on trams only.

Passengers arriving at Southern Cross Station can catch a S1 shuttle tram on Spencer Street tram from Stop 122 Southern Cross Station/Spencer Street.
Gates 3 and 4
Passengers arriving at Southern Cross Station can catch a S2 shuttle tram on Spencer Street tram from Stop 122 Southern Cross Station/Spencer Street.
Gates 5, 8, 9 and 10
Passengers arriving at Southern Cross Station, can change to a Flinders Street Station train and then catch a St Kilda Road tram (except Route 1) from Stop 13 Federation Square/Swanston Street.

- Train to Southern Cross Station, then connect with S1 shuttle trams on Spencer Street
Gates 3 and 4
- Train to Southern Cross Station, then connect with S2 shuttle trams on Spencer Street
Gates 5, 8, 9 and 10
- Train to Flinders Street Station, then connect with one of the following trams:
- S3 shuttle trams (between Flinders Street Station and St Kilda Junction)
- S4 shuttle trams (between Melbourne Central Station and Stop 138 Luna Park or Windsor Station).

Passengers travelling to the track can use their Grand Prix ticket to travel free on shuttle trams
Gates 1 and 2 - 5.30am to 8.30pm
- S1 shuttle trams run between Stop 122 Southern Cross Station and Middle Park, running express between Southern Cross Station and Gate 1 and 2.
- Route 96 replacement buses run between East Brunswick and Luna Park, servicing all stops from Southern Cross Station to Stop 138 Luna Park.
Gates 3 and 4 - 5.30am to 8.30pm
- S2shuttle trams run between Stop 122 Southern Cross Station and Gates 3 and 4.
Gates 3 and 4 - 5.30am to 9pm
- Express buses run from Crown Casino to Gates 1, 2 and 3 via Clarendon Street and Canterbury Road.
Gates 5, 8, 9 & 10 - 5.30am to 8.30pm
- S3 shuttle trams run between Flinders Street Station and St Kilda Junction.
- S4 shuttle trams run between Melbourne Central Station and Stop 138 Luna Park or Windsor Station.

Bourke Street passengers can connect with Route 96 replacement buses at Stop 11 Melbourne Museum or Spencer Street using Route 86 trams along Bourke Street.

From first to last tram each day
- Route 12 trams run a shortened service between St Kilda and Stop 12 St Vincent’s Plaza, travelling express between Spencer Street and City Road. Passengers can use Route 109 trams as alternative to Victoria Gardens.
- Route 30 trams will not run. Consider City Circle (Route 35) to connect.
- City Circle (Route 35) trams won’t service Stop 119 Spencer Street and Stop D1 Stadium Precinct.
From 5.30am to 8.30pm each day
Use Grand Prix shuttle trams along St Kilda Road to connect between services.
- Route 1 trams run in two sections, with no trams between Stop 7 RMIT University and Stop 17 Sturt Street.
- Route 3a and 16 trams run shortened service between East Malvern/ Kew and Stop 138 Luna Park.
- Route 5 trams run between Malvern and Stop 38 Orrong Road, connecting with Route 64 trams traveling to St Kilda Junction.
- Route 6 trams run in sections with no trams between Stop 7 RMIT University and Stop 27 High Street.
- Route 64 trams run a shortened service between East Brighton and Stop 30 St Kilda Junction.
- Route 72 trams run a shortened service between Camberwell and Stop 25 Commercial Road.
- Route 86 trams run a shortened service between Bundoora RMIT and Stop 1 Southern Cross Station.
- Buses replace Route 96 trams between East Brunswick and Stop 138 Luna Park, diverting via Lonsdale Street.
- Route 109 trams run express between Stop 1 Southern Cross Station and Stop 125a Southbank Tram Depot.
From 7am to 8.30pm each day
- Route 67 trams run a shortened service between Carnegie and Stop 30 St Kilda Junction.

Passengers arriving at Southern Cross Station can catch a Light Rail GP Express tram from Stop 122 Southern Cross Station/Spencer Street.
Gates 3
Passengers arriving at Southern Cross Station can catch a Clarendon Street GP Express tram from Stop 1 Southern Cross Station/Collins Street.
Gates 5, 8, 9 and 10
Passengers arriving at Southern Cross Station, can change to a Flinders Street Station train and then catch a St Kilda Road GP shuttle tram from Stop 13 Federation Square/Swanston Street.

Ticketing
2022 Grand Prix ticket holders are able to travel free on Grand Prix shuttle trams in Melbourne. You must show your Grand Prix ticket if requested by public transport staff.
Please note, you cannot travel on trains, buses or coaches using your Grand Prix ticket. You must have a valid myki card or ticket to travel.
myki is your reusable travel card for trains, trams and buses in Melbourne and regional Victorian centres.

Before you travel
We strongly encourage you register your myki. With a registered myki you can set up auto top up, protect your myki balance if the card is lost or stolen, check your travel history and manage multiple myki cards in the one account.
When travelling on public transport you must wear a fitted face mask covering your nose and mouth unless you have a lawful reason for not doing so, and ensure you wear it for your entire journey. This applies to anyone eight years old and over.
A mask is also highly recommended at tram and bus stops and on train station platforms where a safe distance (1.5m) from others cannot be maintained.
