Free public transport for Moomba Festival

Events > Public holiday

Public transport to and from the Melbourne CBD will be free this long weekend to help Victorians and their families enjoy the Moomba festivities.

Anyone heading to Moomba will be able to travel for free on all trains, trams and buses, including V/Line services, by downloading one of the vouchers below.

Two types of vouchers are available – one for individuals and one for groups and families (including adults and carers travelling with dependants) and can be printed out or shown on a smart device.

Passengers should not touch on or off their myki, as the voucher acts as a ticket. No refunds will be offered for people who use their myki instead of the voucher.

For travel on V/Line reserved services and reserved coaches, you’ll need to make a reservation. When you collect your tickets, present your travel voucher to ticket office staff along with your reservation number and they’ll print out your free tickets.

Free travel vouchers will be valid from 5pm Friday 5 March to 11.59pm Monday 8 March 2021.

This year’s reimagined, family-friendly festival will run all long weekend and will see Alexandra Gardens, Sidney Myer Music Bowl and city streets and buildings transformed into unique spaces filled with live music, the ever-popular carnival, food trucks and light installations.

Fitted face masks must be worn on public transport.
